Thirteen Principles of Success –A Classic Model on Individual Achievement

“Think and Grow Rich,” written by Napoleon Hill is your passport to financial independence, personal growth, and peace of mind. Napoleon Hill’s thirteen principles of success are the result of 20 years of research. This edition is a reproduction of the unedited text of Hill’s 1937 original work.

These principles contain important philosophies that you will want to study, digest, meditate on, and absorb as you make them your own. Hill includes stories to illustrate his philosophy of the “Law of Success.” These stories include men like Andrew Carnegie, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and other leaders in industry.

The foundational principles of Hill’s “Law of Success” are the basic premise or substance of many success oriented authors, writing in the genre of visualization, positive thinking, and self-realization.

Personal treasures I gleaned from my reading include the wisdom found in these principles:

  • Faith, a burning desire, and persistence combined with a plan of action will produce miraculous results.
  • Every adversity brings with it the seed of an equivalent advantage – handicaps can be converted into stepping stones.

Readers willing to commit themselves to Napoleon Hill’s thirteen steps to riches as found in his book, “Think and Grow Rich” can expect to find “abundant riches” in finances, business associations, family relationships, peace of mind, and a changed life.

A Working Plan for Implementing the Human Needs Factor into Reality throughout the Finance and Operational Challenges in Business

Chris Reimer draws from his own experiences as a marketing and communications strategist as the framework of “Happywork – A Business Parable about the Journey to Teamwork, Profit, and Purpose.”

Dick Vunorri, president of Vunorri, Inc., an electronics component manufacturer, is on 30 day notice with his bank to come up with a feasible plan to turn his financial position around within 30 days or the bank will have to start foreclosure proceedings. Dick put in a call to Sam Maslow, a freelance consultant specializing in “turning companies around,” for help. The wheels were put in motion. Sam had 30 days to produce a viable plan.

Sam began his work by interviewing key department officers. Two of these ended in disaster. An older man from the mail room, Charlie, kept showing up in the lunch room and began offering information on the company and its employees as well as some opinions on the importance of maxims to live by, human relations, and man’s basic needs.

Interviews at every level left Sam frustrated, no one would open up. Staff members were intimidated by upper management, . They felt harassed and threatened. Vunorri, Inc. was a mess. Sam was getting nowhere. By the end of the third week Charlies’ talks begin to make sense.

“Happywork – A Business Parable about the Journey to Teamwork, Profit, and Purpose” has a cast of believable characters and dramatic stimulating dialog.

is a strong fictional platform with an important strategic message. Reimer has written a fast moving compelling story with a dramatic surprise ending.

The book is highly endorsed by industry leaders, recognized business strategists, and media mentors. Highly recommended as must reading for department heads and managers at all levels.

A Tale of Adventure and Fantasy with Lessons on Redemption and Sacrifice

Author, J. A. Myhre, and illustrator Acacia Masso expand the mind of the reader and give the child a broader understanding of the world and peoples of Uganda, Africa and of man’s universal need for fulfillment, purpose, acceptance, and family as seen through the eyes of ten year old Mu, a young African boy on a quest. A quest for identity and purpose, stolen from him as a baby.

“A Chameleon a Boy and a Quest” is an allegory, rich in adventure, full of fantasy; a combination of myth, superstition, folklore, and reality. Ten year old Mu is sold by his great uncle to men intent on using Mu for their evil purposes. In a fast moving series of events Mu faces danger, an ever present evil enemy, the friendship and guidance of a chameleon called Tita, and the protection of a dog named Botu.

Masso’s bold pen and ink drawings add a new depth of meaning to Myhre’s delightful narrative, and creative word pictures. Picture ten year old Mu riding bareback across the “nearly four meters above the African grasslands,” or sleeping soundly, without fear, in an oversized deserted ant hill, with the howling of hyenas, and the snarling of a lioness, guarding her cubs in the background.

A compelling story, reminiscent of C. S. Lewis, insightful and compassionate full of hope in the midst of endangerment, an amazing story of miraculous provision sustenance and protection on each step of Mu’s quest.

Valuable Nuggets and Lessons for Leaving a Legacy of Family Values

Jo Kline Cebuhar, J. D.  packs profound quotes, valuable nuggets, stories, and lessons for leaving a legacy of family values to the next generation in her concise book “Whose big idea was that? Lessons in giving from the pioneers of value-inspired philanthropy.”

I read with interest the concept of “Footprint Philanthropy” and the mission statements of the founders of six charitable organizations. These organizations range from campus, animal, and children’s rights to medical research, and history preservation. Common themes of; achievement, community, compassion, diligence, self-respect, faith and family are found as the core values of these pioneer charities and are written as affirmations of the founder’s intended purposes.

Cebuhar provides practical guidelines for the donor and supporters of worthy causes as well as for the fundraisers and development officers of non-profit organizations. She challenges the donor to identify their personal core values and to incorporate and communicate them as a legacy in their plan for giving, “whether as a pioneer problem solver or a sustaining supporter of a cause.”

Cebuhar’s writing reflects her personal dedication as a pioneering entrepreneur, volunteer, and innovative promoter of “value-inspired philanthropy.”
