Embrace the Journey – Put Yourself in the Driver’s Seat to Personal Empowerment

In her book “Drive Yourself Successful – 11 Inner states to Personal Empowerment” professional speaker and licensed professional counselor, Rachel Lynn, guides the reader through eleven steps to personal empowerment. Lynn uses an analogy of life’s journey with the process of preparing for and taking an automobile trip on the “inner state.”

In preparation for the trip, Lynn establishes why the trunk of the car must be cleaned out. Lynn strongly recommends that you must throw out negative words. These negative words and thoughts have hindered your self-perception and personal self-worth.  When we get trapped with negative attitudes that keep our gearshift stuck in “park” we need to recognize how these obstacles hold us back from experiencing our full potential. Lynn provides the reader with crucial tool to remove the adverse effect of negative thinking and to replace them with positive thoughts that will inspire, motivate, and reassure peace and strength.

When we find ourselves at a standstill point, living a life on hold: needing a tune up; Lynn challenges us to consciously consider our desires and goals by answering the question, “What do I expect from life?”

Lynn then goes on to provide the reader with practical guidelines for facilitating inner growth, reprogramming personal guidance programs (GPS), and transforming negative experiences of fear and self-doubt into fuel that accelerate vision and activate plans for the journey.

I personally appreciated the guidelines for setting goals and developing vision. The “Checkpoints” that accompany each chapter offer powerful pointers for preparing for the trip, choosing the right fuel, the importance of a tune up and regular maintenance, clear vision, recognizing detours as opportunities for other avenues of success, and adjusting your frequency to enable you, the reader, to “Take the Wheel and Make Yourself Successful.”

Reader’s in the genres of Personal Growth, Business and Economics, Self-Help, or Motivation will resonate with Rachel Lynn’s “11 Inner States to Personal Empowerment” found in “Drive Yourself Successful.

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill – A Book Review

Thirteen Principles of Success –A Classic Model on Individual Achievement

“Think and Grow Rich,” written by Napoleon Hill is your passport to financial independence, personal growth, and peace of mind. Napoleon Hill’s thirteen principles of success are the result of 20 years of research. This edition is a reproduction of the unedited text of Hill’s 1937 original work.

These principles contain important philosophies that you will want to study, digest, meditate on, and absorb as you make them your own. Hill includes stories to illustrate his philosophy of the “Law of Success.” These stories include men like Andrew Carnegie, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and other leaders in industry.

The foundational principles of Hill’s “Law of Success” are the basic premise or substance of many success oriented authors, writing in the genre of visualization, positive thinking, and self-realization.

Personal treasures I gleaned from my reading include the wisdom found in these principles:

  • Faith, a burning desire, and persistence combined with a plan of action will produce miraculous results.
  • Every adversity brings with it the seed of an equivalent advantage – handicaps can be converted into stepping stones.

Readers willing to commit themselves to Napoleon Hill’s thirteen steps to riches as found in his book, “Think and Grow Rich” can expect to find “abundant riches” in finances, business associations, family relationships, peace of mind, and a changed life.

How the Body Affects the Mind and the Mind Affects the Body – A Plan for Redesigning Body, Soul and Spirit”

In her book “Silent Takeover – How the Body Hijacks the Mind” Jacquelyn Sheppard sets out to establish the concept that emotional, mental disorders and other addictive behaviors are directly related to diet.  She provides a “roadmap” for anyone looking for answers to two questions:  “Why am I the way I am? What can be done to change my Life?”

The book is made up of four parts. Part one deals with below the surface issues of emotional, mental, and addictive behaviors. Part two looks at surface issues; facing daily decisions and finding solutions to negative behaviors. Part three helps the reader understand addictions and look realistically at the impact of chemicals on everyday life. Part four provides strategies for redesigning body, soul, and spirit.

Jacquelyn’s writing reveals sensitivity to the examples of shepherding in Jesus’ teaching and a spiritual tone that resonates with the reader, establishes rapport, and builds confidence in her assumptions.

Sheppard’s extensive research often challenges generally recognized and more traditionally accepted interpretations of mental and emotional issues. Her meticulous chapter end-notes provide the reader with substantial suggestions for additional reading which confirm her conclusions. Her work is endorsed by professionals in the fields of medicine, education, and clergy.

I found Jacquelyn Sheppard’s “Silent Takeover – How the Body Hijacks the Mind” to be immensely interesting and vitally informative. Highly Recommended.

Powerful Lessons from the Wisdom of the Chameleon

In “The Chameleon” Merrick Rosenberg picks up the themes of the earlier book “Taking Flight” co-authored with Daniel Silvert in which they introduced the DISC model of human behavior using a story telling format incorporating the use of fables.

The book is made up of 22 fables based on the DISC personality system to show the unique flexibility of the chameleon and the behavioral styles of the parrot, the dove, the owl, and the eagle to demonstrate the four personality types. This enables the reader to identify personal leadership styles. Rosenberg combines his gift of storytelling with practical examples to help enhance your career, build strong relationships, influence others, and to live a more fulling life.

I found the practical applications used in the section Chameleon Wisdom especially helpful. These included specific tips for adapting or translating the teaching of the fable into life action steps that help you get the most benefit possible from your personal strengths. Rosenberg’s writing is entertaining, filled with practical illustrations, and inspiration that inspires positive transformation in self and others.

“The Chameleon – Life Changing Wisdom” is important reading for anyone seeking career advancement, improving relationships, or developing maximum personal potential.
